Welcome to Tortuga Soaps!

HAPPY 2010!

We are unfortunately closed now as I return to study, and I would like to say a big THANK YOU all the wonderful customers who made this a great year, and for the friendships created along the way. Wishing you and yours a great 2010. :)

I will still maintain the website with information on making soap stamps, moulds, and other equipment, and will still be contactable via the website.

Business opportunity! I am looking for others to take the lead on custom soap stamps, especially in Australia as there are limited producers of custom soap stamps here. We have provided instructions to making custom soap stamps on our custom stamp page - feel free to contact me for friendly help, advice or assistance on custom soap stamps! I have stopped making custom soap stamps, and would like to be able to direct customers to other custom stamp producers in Australia.

Sea Turtles of Ella Bay

Beautiful Northern Queensland has a new found bustling nesting ground at Ella Bay. Unfortunately this area is under threat from the development of resorts, amenities and the damage that an influx of people and construction will bring. From my experience on the nesting beaches in Florida, private and secured beaches had much higher nesting success and fewer incidents of harassment from domestic animals and humans, lighting induced disorientation, excessive false crawls and failed nesting attempts, and injury/death on human beach constructions/furniture/equipment. To a certain degree some sea turtles some may shift their nesting to another beach if nesting is unfavorable on a developed beach, but the quality of nesting grounds is variable and if high quality nesting grounds are developed it can spell disaster for that rookery. For more information on the threats that these sea turtles face and about Ella Bay check out these sites:
