Unfortunately this area is under threat from the development of resorts, amenities and the damage that an influx of people and construction will bring. From my experience on the nesting beaches in Florida, private and secured beaches had much higher nesting success and fewer incidents of harassment from domestic animals and humans, lighting induced disorientation, excessive false crawls and failed nesting attempts, and injury/death on human beach constructions/furniture/equipment. To a certain degree some sea turtles some may shift their nesting to another beach if nesting is unfavorable on a developed beach, but the quality of nesting grounds is variable and if high quality nesting grounds are developed it can spell disaster for that rookery.
